Jody is one of the founding members of Seattle Women’s Chorus (SWC). She began as a second alto and after briefly moving away to live on the southwest Oregon coast, she is thrilled to be back in Seattle and honored to step in as SWC’s interpreter while Debi Westwood is taking leave this quarter. Jody holds a BA in Theater from the University of Northern Colorado. In 1985, she completed the interpreter training program at Front Range Community College near Denver. She has been working as a full-time certified sign language interpreter ever since. Jody’s first performance interpretation was with Holly Near in 1987. Since then she has worked with many other artists including Dianne Davidson, Ferron, Deirdre McCalla, Rhiannon, Lucie Blue Tremblay, Teresa Trull, and Cris Williamson. Jody has also interpreted at the West Coast Women’s Music Festival, Michigan Womyn’s Music Festival, Ashland Shakespeare Festival, and the Pacific Northwest Women’s Music and Cultural Jamboree, formerly known as Tam’s Jam. She looks forward to returning to the singing ranks of SWC in the fall.
