GALA Affiliation


Seattle Men's Chorus is a founding member of GALA (Gay and Lesbian Association of Choruses) which has over 190 member choruses from across the United States, Canada and Europe. Chorus member Craig Campbell served two terms as President of the GALA Board of Directors. In 1989, Seattle Men's Chorus hosted the Festival of GALA Choruses III, bringing to Seattle 22 choruses and over 2,400 performers for a week of concerts at the University of Washington. the choruses represented Seattle at the GALA Montreal Festival in July 2004.

The mission of the Washington, DC-based GALA Choruses is inspiring and strengthening member choruses to change their worlds through song. Founded in 1982 by fourteen choruses, GALA Choruses is the worlds only international choral association for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and allied choruses. With an annual budget of $650,000, GALA Choruses has invested more than $40,000 in matching grants for commissioned works.
