Featuring Ædonis &
Captain Smartypants
Small Ensembles From Seattle Men's Chorus
Captain Smartypants was formed in 2000 by Seattle Men's Chorus assistant artistic director Eric Lane Barnes. They have but one goal: to make you laugh while creating exquisite harmony. Captain Smartypants has gained a reputation in Seattle for telling it like it is, telling it like it isn't, and telling it like it probably never will be. Part improv-comedy troupe, part a cappella showcase, part vaudeville extravaganza, these boys sing and dance like the illegitimate lovechild of 'N Sync and Monty Python's Flying Circus. Ædonis, an ensemble of Seattle Men's Chorus, is an a cappella group in the tradition of the King's Singers and Chanticleer. Reminiscent of Zipper and Philandros (former Seattle Men's Chorus ensembles), this group serves as our classical ensemble. Their repertoire includes the works of gay and lesbian composers from past to present. The program includes a wide range of a cappella styles from composers Benjamin Britten, Guilliaume Dufay, Orlandus Lassus, Jean-Baptiste Lully, Francis Poulenc, Camille Saint-Saens, Steven Sametz, Franz Schubert, Donald Skirvin and Peter Tchaikovsky.
